It was graduation day for more than 170 new state troopers in New York. One of those added to the ranks is Marine Carson Reid Harrington of Belfast. He was joined today by his brother Cody who also attended the ceremony. He has a wife and two children. He's not sure at the moment which barracks he will be initially assigned to. In the military, he served Infantry 0311 at Marine Corps Recruiting.

The ceremony on Thursday took place at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center in Albany. This event brings the total state police sworn members to 5,034. For the next ten weeks, these new troopers will undergo evaluation as part of a field-training program supervised by experienced field training officers.

Today marked the conclusion of the 216th session of the Basic School at the New York State Police Academy.
