Eleanor Anderson Driscoll, 95, of Wilmington, NC, peacefully passed away on February 14, 2025, at Sunrise of Paoli in Malvern, PA. Born on June 9, 1929, in Wellsville, NY, she was the daughter of the late Leo P. Anderson and Mary (Shine) Anderson. Eleanor was preceded in death by her beloved older brother, Joseph R. Anderson, who passed away at the age of 85.
Eleanor was married to Bernard Eugene Driscoll of Wellsville, NY, who died in 1998. Together, they raised three sons: Bernard, plus twins David and Daniel. Her love for her family was immeasurable. Eleanor was a devoted and cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, finding boundless joy in the lives of her children, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense pride and happiness.
A proud graduate of Elmira School of Nursing in Elmira, NY, Eleanor devoted her professional life to the healthcare field. She served as the Nursing Director at Paoli Hospital for many years, where she was respected for her compassionate leadership, tireless dedication to patient care and profound impact on the lives of both colleagues and patients.
Eleanor enjoyed sporting events, concerts and gardens.
In retirement, Eleanor and Gene moved to Wilmington, NC, where they found peace and joy along the coastline. The couple often enjoyed strolling along the shore of Wrightsville Beach, savoring quiet moments together. She volunteered as a docent at Wilmington Performing Arts and at a clinic for women in need.
Eleanor was a devout Catholic. Eleanor’s greatest joy in life was her faith and family. She will be remembered for her strength, grace and the abundant love she shared with all who knew her.
A memorial service is being planned for early summer in Wellsville, NY.
