Obituary: John H. Herdman, 89, West Almond

West Almond - John H. Herdman, 89, of County Rd 2A, passed away peacefully Saturday (July 27, 2019) at Jones Memorial Hospital.
Born in West Almond, May 30, 1930, the son of John and Nancy (Durnion) Herdman, he was a lifelong area resident, except for wintering in Florida during retirement. John had worked for the Town of West Almond, and later retired from Allegany County Highway Department, as a heavy equipment operator. He loved attending steam engine shows, auctions, car shows, collecting memorabilia, and antique cars. John could be seen proudly riding around local towns in his 1914 & 1922 Model T’s.
He was predeceased by his parents.
 He is survived by his daughter Joy (Tim) Pender of Honeyoye Falls, his longtime companion and caretaker Fran Struble (and her children who thought of him as a father), step son Todd Hills of West Almond, step daughter Darlene Metatos of Angelica, his granddaughters Bella and Ava Pender, his brother Stanley (Hazel) Herdman of Newark, NY, nieces, nephew and cousins.
The family will be present 1-3pm Sunday, August 4, 2019, at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 101 West Avenue in Angelica, where funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM, with Pastor Ken Stanton officiating
