Animal Cruelty case in the Town of Avoca
On Wednesday August 22, New York State Police arrested two individuals for animal neglect and failure to provide sustenance.
New York State Police were dispatched by Steuben County 911 to an apartment building located at 60483 State Route 415 in the Town of Avoca. When police arrived at the scene they were advised that there were two under nourished cats and one dead cat located in Room 16 of the apartment building. A concerned resident of another apartment contacted the building maintenance person, who opened the vacated apartment and found two cats and one dead cat living in "an awful stench." Troopers were able to locate the names of the prior tenants through mail that was left behind. The Steuben County SPCA assisted in the removal of the cats.
With the assistance of the Village of Bath PD, Christopher A. Miller, age 22 and Rebecca M. Roll age 21 were located at an address in the Village of Bath. Miller and Roll both admitted to owning the cats and living at the apartment in Avoca. They both were arrested and issued tickets to appear at the Town of Avoca court on September 3rd.
