Proud retired Trooper

Troop C- What an honor for a Trooper out of SP Binghamton, as he will now carry his father’s shield. Trooper Corwin Mackney started with the State Police in 2018. His father, Walter Mackney, served 30 years with the State Police, retiring in 2014. When Trooper Mackney graduated from the Academy, his father’s shield had already been assigned to another Trooper. Knowing how meaningful it would be to continue tradition, the member offered to return the shield, so Trooper Mackney could carry the same one as his father. On Friday, retired Senior Investigator Walter Mackney presented the shield to his son. They were joined by Mrs. Deborah Mackney, Troop C Commander Major Brian Shortall and First Sergeant Chad Buckley at Troop Headquarters in Sidney.
