Fire claims the life of elderly Genesee, PA woman

A house was consumed by fire late Friday night and its occupant was killed as a result. Firefighters from Pennsylvania and New York responded at 11:30 p.m. to 48 Rose Lake Lane in Allegany Township, Potter County. On the initial dispatch, 911 kept telling First Responders a person was trapped inside. In a public information release report issued today. Trooper Kyle A. Wagner said 86-year-old Helen M. Matteson died in the blaze. Police said she was the sole occupant of the dwelling. Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal Tyler Watson responded and assisted in the investigation. Responding to the scene to support the Genesee Fire Department...Shinglehouse, Ulysses, Coudersport, Whitesville, Willing and the Potter County Coroner's Office. State police say the fire investigation continues.
