Three badly injured in Wellsville crash

8/30/19 UPDATE HERE
ORIGINAL STORY:

State Police say three Wellsville residents were badly injured this morning when the pickup truck they were in crashed. It happened at 3 a.m. on Helmhold Road in the Town of Wellsville. State Police Investigator Scott Cicirello said the truck was traveling eastbound when it slid off the roadway, entered a ditch and overturned. All three occupants were severely injured. Due to foggy conditions Mercy Flight couldn't land at the helipad downtown so instead, it landed at the Wellsville Airport and flew a male to Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo. Two others, a male and a female were transported to Jones Memorial and then transferred to Strong Memorial in Rochester. Inv. Cicirello said the names are not being released until later in the investigation. Wellsville Fire, EMS and Rescue and Independence Emergency Squad all responded to the scene. Extrication was required to safely remove the occupants. Inv. Cicirello said a State Police Accident Reconstruction Team was headed to the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
