Allegany County Legislature meets August 26th

The Allegany County Legislature meets Monday afternoon. Lawmakers will be asked to create one temporary full-time position of Commissioner of Social Services trainee. The annual salary would be $83,000. Legislators will also vote to accept a $3.1 million grant. The funding would be earmarked for the Public Defender’s Office, Assigned Counsel Program and the Conflict Office. The grant covers a five-year period. Also on the meeting agenda:
  1. A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING H.R. 1629, the “911 SAVES” ACT AND THE SENATE COMPANION BILL
    RESOLVED:  

            1.         That the Allegany County Board of Legislators supports the passage of H.R. 1629, the Supporting Accurate Views of Emergency Services Act of 2019 (911 SAVES Act), which would direct the Office of Management and Budget to reclassify public safety telecommunicators as a “Protective Service Occupation.”
