He was born August 21, 1962, in Wellsville, the son of the
late Arnold Llewelyn and Lena Ardell (Hunt) Reed.
David was raised in Wellsville and was a 1981 graduate of
Wellsville High School. He was first employed by the Allegany County Job Track,
and then he began his 31-year career with the Town of Wellsville, retiring in
2020. He was a social member of the Frank B. Church Post 2530 VFW, and the Sons
of the American Legion Squadron 702. He enjoyed his many trips to McDonalds,
Modern Diner, the Town & Country Market in Allentown, and more recently, he
appreciated his niece delivering tea from Beyoutiful Nutrition. He loved Bingo,
scratch off and rip tickets, game shows, NASCAR, dirt track racing, family
vacations to Daren Lake, giving his health care providers a hard time, and he
absolutely loved the Buffalo Bills.
He is survived by two sisters, Kathleen M. Whitesell of
Andover, and Peggy Lou (David) Dixon of Wellsville, nieces and nephews, Amanda
Whitesell, Racheal (Joe) Dickerson, (who was special to David) Timothy
Whitesell, Sarah Whitesell, Jasmine (Ben) Williams, and Joshua Dixon, great
nieces and nephews, Jayden Reed, Gavan Dickerson, Dawson Reed, Miakoda Reed,
Natalie Dickerson, Abby Stoneham, Harper Dickerson, Emma Williams, and his
beloved dog “Tank”. He was predeceased in addition to his parents by a niece, Elizabeth
Reed, a brother-in-law, Milford Whitesell, and a great niece, Angel Whitesell.
Friends are invited to call on Friday, July 5, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, and again on Saturday, July 6, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc. in Wellsville. The funeral will follow at 1:00 pm Saturday with Rev. Calvin Densmore presiding. The burial will be in Yorks Corners Cemetery. Please consider memorial donations to the American Heart Association.
