SHINGLEHOUSE, PA---Josephyn Maribella “Josey” Tanner, 16, of Shinglehouse, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 15, 2024, in the Olean General Hospital, Olean, NY.
Born on Friday, March 14, 2008, in Paris, Texas, she was a daughter of Justyn D. and Teena L. Calhoun Tanner.
Josey enjoyed all things outdoors: camping, 4 wheeling on ATV, swimming, roller blading and gardening. She also loved animals, especially her dog, Lucky. She also loved to watch movies and anime. Three of her favorite things were unicorns, rainbows, and kitties.
Her Autism allowed her to see the world in a very unique way that we were all grateful to have shared with her. She was a very special soul and will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish her memory are her mother, Teena L. Tanner of Shinglehouse and her finance, David J. Hamilton; her father Justyn D. Tanner and his wife, Lesley, of Texas; her maternal grandparents, Ernest G. and Dayle M. Calhoun of Shinglehouse; two brothers, Matthew A. (Kayla Lombard) Hetrick of Pittsburgh and Jeffrey M. Hetrick of Erie; her aunt, Beth A. (Mark) Carnell of Harborcreek; her only first cousin, Jacob Wisniewski and his girlfriend, Scarlett of Harborcreek; second cousins, Tommy Orsini and Jessica Ahlschlager, both of Erie; as well as many great-aunts and great-uncles, and many more 2nd and 3rd cousins.
Family and friends are invited to call from 12 noon to 2pm on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, 118 South Union Street, Shinglehouse, where funeral services will follow at 2pm with Pastor Gerald Piper of Knapp Creek Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in East Sharon Cemetery, Shinglehouse.
