July 17th the Allegany County Fair held the Youth Dairy Show. This year’s show opened with meet and greet with the judge, Kelly Reynolds from Corfu, NY.
Beginning the show with Senior Showmanship division first place blue to Lindsey Reynolds and second blue to Natalie Burrows both from Cuba, NY. First red Morgan Holcomb from Friendship, NY followed by Shaelynn Eddy Cuba, NY; Jim Eshelman Scio, NY; and Abigail Morton Caneadea, NY.
In our Junior Showmanship division, Bentley Foster Friendship NY received a blue ribbon. For the Novice division Cooper Hunt from Bolivar, NY received blue ribbons.
Winners in each of the showmanship divisions received a halter sponsored by Zane Covert. The top 2 from each division competed for Master Showmanship. This year’s winner Lindsey Reynolds received a director’s chair sponsored by The York Agency, Lester York. Reserve Master Showman, Natilie Burrows, received a bucket of grooming supplies sponsored by Zane Covert.
There was one participant in Cloverbud Showman this year, open to youth 5-7 years old. Tinsley Foster received a participation ribbon and a bucket of supplies sponsored by Wild Geese Farm.
We want to thank our judge, Kelly Reynolds from Corfu, NY. She farms with her husband Tyler’s family at Reyncrest Farm where they milk 1,700 Holstiens and have 30 head of show cattle. On the farm she does tours and public outreach. Kelly has judges in 10 states and Canada.
Youth shows at the fair are one of many programs offered by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Allegany County (CCE-Allegany). The association is part of the national cooperative extension system, an educational partnership between County, State, and Federal governments.
