Robert G. Campbell, 93, formerly of Cuba, New York, passed away
Monday, June 4, 2018 at Woodside Manor, Brighton, after a lengthy illness.
Born on October 18, 1924, in Elmira, he was a son of Percy
and Christine Povlus Campbell. On
January 24, 1948 he married his wife of 70 years, the former Mary Jane Baldwin
who survives.
Bob was a graduate of Horseheads High School Class of
1942. He served with the 17th Airborne
Division of the United State Army from 1943-45.
When he moved to Cuba his first job was for the GLF feed
store where he was manager for a short time before going to work as a salesman,
selling horticultural supplies to greenhouses and nurseries, retiring 31 years
later. He was also on the Cuba Town
Board of Real Estate Assessment for 20 years.
In retirement Bob and his wife wintered in Zephryhills, FL
and spent summers in Cuba.
Always active in his faith, he had been a member of the West
Clarksville Baptist Church, Obi Community Church, and Faith Baptist Church of
Zephryhills, serving in various capacities in each church including deacon
numerous times.
He was a member of Gideons International, Zephryhills
American Legion, and the Shawn M. Clemens Memorial Am Vets Post 1 of Cuba.
He especially loved the time he spent with his family and
time spent with his church organizations. In addition to his wife he is
survived by a son, Thomas (Sue) Campbell of Cuba; 3 Daughters, Lynette (Thomas)
Yaw of Greece, Lori (Vincent) Giardino of Greece, Kelley (John) Green of Brockport; a son-in-law, Paul
Grizenko of Penn Yan; 25 grandchildren,
52 great grandchildren, 2 great great-grandchildren; a sister, Neva Atwell of Clifton Park, NY, several
nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a daughter
Judy Grizenko, A grandson David Giardino, a great granddaughter Shana Dutton
and a sister Doris McLean.
Friends will be received at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home
& Memorial Service, Inc., 9 Bull Street, Cuba on Saturday, June 9, 2018
from Noon until 2:00 P.M. at which time Funeral Services will be held. The Rev. Jonathan D. Ward, will officiate.
Burial will be in Cuba Cemetery, Cuba, New York.
