“Our ultra-local vendors all come to the market from less
than 30 miles away and they have been working hard throughout the spring to
make sure that they have plenty of fresh products for our customers,” explained
Cassandra Bull, Alfred Farmer’s Market Board President. “The variety of fresh
goods that will be available is really stunning for such a small area.”
Fresh produce, fruit, maple syrup, eggs, meat, and gourmet
baked goods will be ready for purchase. Market customers can also browse
through alpaca products, dog treats, pet items, and artisan crafts.
For food items, the market can accept SNAP/EBT, WIC checks
and FMNP (Farmers Market Nutrition Program) senior checks. Cash of course is
welcome and many vendors accept personal checks.
Speaking of children, the market is about building and
supporting the community, so the little ones can join in the fun and be
entertained under the kids tent. Activities are educational and hands on. There
will be story time each week and activities that include puppets, scavenger
hunts, games, experiments, animals and arts and crafts.
“We would love to see families bring picnics or grab lunch
from the food truck; relax and enjoy the music,” said Mary Gardner Ruch, board member. We will
kick off the season with local talent, Ade Adu from Wellsville. He will perform
from noon until 3:00 PM. There will be live
music every Sunday. Demonstrations will take place between 12:00 noon
and 12:30.
