This is a developing story...An early morning fire has caused heavy damage to a town of Wellsville home. Wellsville fire and ambulance crews were dispatched shortly after 4 a.m. today for a house fire at 2388 Ketchner Road. When the first fire chief arrived, he reported an active fire. Shortly thereafter, he told 911 the flames had broken through the roof. Additional help was immediately called in from Scio, Allentown, Andover and FAST Team 4. Some equipment was diverted to the Dornow Road to fill tankers to shuttle water to the scene. There were no initial reports of injuries. National Grid was called to the scene to terminate the utilities.
According to the Allegany County Real Property services, the home is owned by Carl and Carrie Slocum.
The American Red Cross was requested to respond to assist four people.
At 4:44 a.m., it remained an active fire scene.
At 4:47 a.m., fire investigators were dispatched to the scene.
UPDATE: The fire was determined "under control" at 5:30 a.m. EMS provided required evaluations of a few firefighters. Treatment was also provided for at least one pet.
