Four area students receive Pat McGee Nursing Scholarship

OLEAN, N.Y., June 28, 2018 – Four area graduates and current college students recently received the Pat McGee Nursing Scholarship managed by the Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation.
This year’s recipients include: Megan Shumway, a 2015 Olean High School graduate; Kaytelyn Powless, a 2016 Allegany-Limestone Central School graduate; McKenzie Rider, 2018 Salamanca High School graduate; and Megan Rose, a 2018 graduate of Belfast Central School.
The scholarship is given to traditional and non-traditional students from the 57th State Senate District, which includes much of Chautauqua, Cattaraugus and Allegany counties, who are pursuing nursing degrees. Established through the Pat McGee Endowment Fund, the scholarship memorializes the 57th district’s late state senator.

Rider and Rose each received $500. Powless and Shumway each received $200.
Rider will attend Hartwick College. Rose will attend the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford. Both will study nursing.

Shumway and Powless are both currently attending Gannon University, where they are a part of the school’s nursing program.
