ANDOVER – Bonnie Sue Golish, 70, passed away Tuesday (June
26, 2018) at home following a lengthy illness.
Bonnie was born on June 29, 1947 in Hornell to Laron and
Bernice (Mills) Seger. She was a 1965 graduate of Whitesville Central School.
It was her great delight on Aug. 8, 1964 to marry her best friend, Stephen M.
Golish. He was the love of her life and the only person she ever dated. He
predeceased her on Aug. 3, 2007.
Bonnie worked as an Account Clerk for Allegany County
Department of Social Services for 19 years until her retirement in Oct. 2017.
She had previously worked as a paralegal for Annette M. Harding, Esq. in
Wellsville and as an office worker for Dresser-Rand Corporation, also in
Wellsville.
Bonnie is survived by two sons, Christopher (Tammy) Golish
of Spencerport and Brent (Theresa) Golish of Wellsville; three brothers, Ronald
Seger of Arkport, Harland (Nancy) Seger of Wellsville and Jeffery (Judy) Seger
of Wilmington, N.C.; four grandchildren, Miranda (Timothy) Goodwin and Bradley
Golish, both of Spencerport, Patrick Golish of Wellsville and Elizabeth Golish
of Buffalo; an “adopted son” Dan Meyers of Andover; her Emporium Coffee Club
Members; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a sister,
Vicki Seger.
Bonnie was very civic minded. She served on the Andover
Village Board as a Trustee and she was instrumental in initiating Earth Day in
Andover. Bonnie was a member of the Andover Historical Society and served on
the Andover Main Street Holiday Lights Committee.
Bonnie lived a full and varied life. She had a kind and
compassionate heart which demonstrated itself by her heart for animals as she
was especially mindful of those in distress. She also had a heart for people
and was known for looking out for others. She loved to watch movies, primarily
westerns or action movies. Bonnie was willing to take a trip at any time as she
loved to travel. Being on an ocean cruise was particularly delightful for her.
Bonnie was a stylish woman who enjoyed dressing up and looking her best. She
had a passion for history which she desired to pass along to her children. They
have fond memories of their “reluctant” trip to Gettysburg, where Bonnie
ultimately succeeded in bringing history to life for them. Bonnie is remembered
as being a loving mom and grandmother who prized family above everything else.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at
Baker-Swan Funeral Home in Andover. The funeral service will be held on
