SMETHPORT — It was a mixed verdict Tuesday in McKean County Court for a pair who were accused of entering a Shinglehouse home and making threats. Katrina J. Hess, 34, of Bolivar, N.Y., was found guilty of a felony charge of criminal trespass but acquitted of two other charges; while Mark D. Sisson, 44, of Bolivar, was acquitted of all charges except a summary charge of damage property, according to District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer. At the end of the two-day trial, the jury found Sisson not guilty of burglary, aggravated assault, terroristic threats and simple assault, court records indicate. The jury found Hess not guilty of charges of burglary and conspiracy. Hess was represented by Public Defender Philip Clabaugh, and Sisson was represented by Ridgway attorney Christopher Martini. At the time the charges were first filed, Sisson was accused of threatening a man in the home with a running chainsaw, punching the man and stabbing him in the foot, while Hess was accused of keeping other witnesses away so they could not intervene.
