Hunt - Mary L. Ransom of Hunt died Wednesday, May 30, 2018
in Livingston County Skilled Nursing Facility, Mt. Morris. She was born on
January 10, 1930 in Hunt, a daughter of the late Byron and Elizabeth Gelser
Thompson. In 1956 she married Arliss E. Ransom who predeceased her.
Mary was a graduate of Nunda High School, class of 1947, and
attended Geneseo Teacher’s College from 1949 to 1952. She was a former teacher
in Dansville and Livonia.
She was a member of 4-H, the Grange, the Dalton Gang Square
Dance Club, a member and former pianist of Hunt Baptist Church and was the
Historian for the Town of Portage.
Surviving are her daughters, Sharon Ransom of Dansville,
Marri Lynne Ransom of Hunt, a granddaughter, Amber (Justin) Bennett of Hunt;
four great-grandchildren, Jacob, Jackson, Addison and Austin Bennett, a
brother, Arnold Thompson of Nunda, a sister, Donna Haggerty of FL, a
sister-in-law, Alice Thompson of Dalton and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased
by a brother, Gerald Thompson and a brother in law, Patrick Haggerty.
Family and friends may gather from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on
Sunday, June 3, 2018 at the Kopler-Williams Funeral Home, 21 N. Genesee Street,
Fillmore where a funeral service will be held on Monday, June 4, 2018 at 11:00
a.m. Paul Palmer, pastor of the Oakland Wesleyan Church, will officiate. Burial
will be in Hunts Hollow Cemetery, Town of Portage. Memorials if desired to:
Hunts Hollow Cemetery, c/o Phil Cox, 9443 Creek Road, Hunt, NY 14846 for lawn
upkeep and marker repairs.
