James Hennard - On Monday May 7th2018, Jim was called home to be with his heavenly Father, following a brief illness. He was born on July 14th, 1931 in Buffalo, NY to Lindsey and Mabel (Tidd) Hennard. On October 17th 1952, Jim married the love f his life Marilyn (Miller) Hennard. He was a welder at both Dresser Rand in Olean, NY and Air Pre-Heater in Wellsville, NY. Jim also worked as an electrician on the side with his father-in- law and was a maintenance man for Wellsville schools. From 1951-1955 Jim proudly served in the US Navy with his brother Gene. Jim was very active in the community and truly loved his country. At VFW post 2530, he was a life time member, former commander and a quarter master. In the community he was also a volunteer fireman, a mason and a past member of he Loyal Order of the Moose. Jim took over the Blue Devils marching band and did his best to get those kids into shows and out on adventures. Living in their neighborhood for so many years, Jim became very close and well loved by his neighbors. He loved his family and friends very much. He was a strong Trump supporter and changed his life long political affiliation in the last couple of years. Jim was also a lifelong Bills and Yankees fan and in his younger years enjoyed gardening, hunting and playing cards.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn (Miller) Hennard, two daughters Nan (Steve)Allen and Julie (Ed) Green, five grandchildren: Sean (Stacy) Allen, Crystal Green, Amber (Dan) Lawrence, Heather Green and Katelyn (Steven) Scott, and five great grandchildren. Brothers Ray (Janet) Hennard, Gene (Irene) Hennard, Don (Linda) Hennard, Dan (Shirley) Hennard and sisters June Pope and Carol Carmer. He was predeceased by his sister Ginny Slocum and brothers Ed and Courtney Hennard.
A celebration of his life will be held at his home on Sheridan Ave at 1p.m. on Saturday May 12th.
