Genesee, PA man gets jail time in knife incident in Wellsville

A Genesee, PA man will spend most of this year in the Allegany County jail for a knife-wielding incident on Stevens Street in Wellsville. On Wednesday in Allegany County court, Judge Thomas Brown sentenced Justin Haynes, 30, to 180 days in the Allegany County Jail. Haynes pleaded guilty to 2nd degree menacing, although he was originally charged with aggravated family offense, menacing, criminal mischief, harassment and endangering the welfare of a child. According to a press statement, Haynes was accused of "grabbing a knife during a domestic incident and displayed it in a threatening manner." He was also assessed a $200 court surcharge and a $50 DNA fee. Prosecutors said the incident occurred November 23, 2016. The case was prosecuted by assistant district attorney Mike Finn. Haynes was represented by the Allegany County Public Defender.
