Ernest L. Morris, 94, of Westfield, PA, formerly of
Wellsville, NY, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, May 16, 2018. Born October 8, 1923, in Olean, NY, he was
the son of Ernest L. and Clara Wilkins Morris.
On April 19, 1948, in Genesee, PA, he married the love of his life, the
former Eloise I. Young, who predeceased him on June 5, 2017. A World War II
Veteran, he served honorably with the US Army in the European Theatre. He was a combatant in the Normandy invasion
on June 6, 1944 and later fought in the Battle of the Bulge, the largest battle
on the Western Front. He was employed by Air Preheater in Wellsville, NY for
many years. Ernie was a member of the
People’s Church of Potter Brook and Gerald G. Griffin American Legion Post #519
in Westfield. Surviving are: three sons, Steven D. (Dorothy) Morris of
Virginia Beach, VA, Stanley D. Morris of New Iberia, LA, and Ernest J. (Nicole)
Morris of Portsmouth, VA; a daughter, Vicki
D. Braley of Spring Hill, FL; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; his favorite child, Bonnie Hallett of
Wellsville; and nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased
by a son, Vance Morris; a brother, Duane
Morris; and three sisters, Bette
Burnside, Gloria Pratt and Stella Shutt. Friends may call Monday, May 21, 2018
from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Olney Funeral Home & Cremation Service,
Ulysses, PA. Funeral Services will be
held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in the People’s Church of Potter Brook. The Rev. Gene
Jones, the Rev. E. Matthew Zehr, and the Rev. Philip W. Sanders will
officiate. Military Rites will be
accorded in the church by members of the Potter County Honor Guard. Burial will be in Ulysses Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Potter Brook
