World War II Veteran
Robert G. Hoppe, 96,
of Harrison Valley, PA, died Tuesday, April 10, 2018 in Wellsville Manor Care
Center, Wellsville, NY. Born June 15,
1921, in Carter Camp, PA, he was the son of Eugene and Phoebe Baker Hoppe. A World War II Veteran, he served honorably
with the US Army. He was a combatant in
the North African, Sicily, and Normandy invasions and was awarded a Purple
Heart for wounds received in combat. On
August 19, 1945, in Harrison Valley, he married the former Mary A. Jones, who
predeceased him on June 22, 2010. He
owned and operated Valley Milling Co. in Harrison Valley for many years. Surviving are: a son, R. Tom (Lucille) Hoppe of Harrison
Valley; three daughters,Dolores (Dennis)
Koch of Worland, WY, Leota Rose of Kent, OH, Tina (Gary) Hamilton of Ulysses,
PA; ten grandchildren; 23 great- grandchildren; a brother, Herman Hoppe of Stanley, VA; and nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased
by 11 siblings. Friends may call at the
Olney Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Ulysses, PA on Saturday, April 14,
2018 from 2:00 -- 4:00 p.m., with Funeral Services following at 4:00 p.m. The Rev. Dennis Munro will officiate. Burial will be in Ulysses Cemetery. Military Rites will be accorded by members of
the Potter County Honor Guard. Memorials
may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
