WELLSVILLE, NY (April 24, 2018) – Deanna Hackett, Health
Information Management (HIM) lead at Jones Memorial Hospital, has been named
the hospital’s Privacy Officer.The HIM department ensures the appropriate and confidential
use of health information. The primary responsibility of the Privacy Officer is
to enforce HIPPA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) data
privacy and security provisions for safeguarding medical information. “It is a
natural fit,” said Ms. Hackett of adding the Privacy Officer to her duties. “My
HIM responsibilities fall in line with the responsibilities of the privacy
officer. On both fronts the task is to protect and uphold state and federal
laws, while balancing patient care needs and patient privacy.” Ms. Hackett, who will be celebrating her fifth anniversary
at JMH, started her career in HIM and Quality Management.
