Whitesville - Marjorie L. Erdmann, 73, of 522 Main Street,
passed away on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester
with her family at her side. She was born September 12, 1944, in Wellsville,
the daughter of the late Eugene and Lois (Harris) Bledsoe. On December 14, 1963
in Whitesville she married Larry W. Erdmann who survives. Marjorie was a 1962
graduate of Whitesville High School and graduated as a licensed practical nurse
from St. Francis School of Nursing in Olean. She was formerly employed at
Mary's Nursing Home in Wellsville, and the Machias Nursing Home. The family
moved back to Whitesville from Cattaraugus County in 1973 and she continued her
career at Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville and at the Wellsville Manor
Care Center. She drove school bus for Whitesville Central School for many
years. She was a co-leader of the Jay Gee's 4-H Club in Whitesville, and was
very active with the Allegany County Fair for many years. She was a life member
of the Whitesville Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, where she served
as president, secretary, treasurer and historian, a member of the Yorks Corners
Grange, the Independence Ambulance Corps, where she served as treasurer, the
Whitesville Alumni Association where she served as treasurer, she was the
founder of the Red Hat Chapter in Whitesville, and was named “Whitesville
Citizen of the Year” in 1988. She enjoyed doing word search, Sunday night
popcorn, camping, and loved spending time with her family, especially her
grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to her husband, is a daughter, Beth
(Mike) Plaisted, three sons, Kevin (Ellen) Erdmann, Jeffrey (Stacey) Erdmann,
and Dennis (Julie) Erdmann, all of Whitesville; eight grandchildren, Brock,
Emily, Bryce, Ryan Plaisted, Karlee, Jacob, Jessica, and Lucas, 3
step-grandchildren, Michael Plaisted, Samantha (Douglas) George, and Kayla
Plaisted, a sister, Vickie (Nate) Scott of Whitesville, a brother, Charles E.
Bledsoe of Wellsville, a sister-in-law, Diane Bledsoe of Rexville,
brother-in-law Robert (Toni) Erdmann of Mansfield, NY; two uncles, cousins,
several nieces and nephews, and many, many special friends.
Friends are invited to call on Friday, April 27, from 6:00
to 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday April 28, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the J. W.
Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc., 34 W. State Street in Wellsville. The funeral
will follow visitation at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home with Pastor
Dennis Munro presiding. Burial will be in Whitesville Rural Cemetery. Please consider memorial donations to the Hart
