BOLIVAR - Louie Schiralli, 85, of 1389 Bartlett Road, passed away Thursday (Aug. 3, 2017) at home following a lengthy illness.
Born May 26, 1932, in Bolivar, he was a son of Carmin and Nancy Ciampa Schiralli. Louie married the former Barbara Clark on July 7, 1962, at St. Mary's Church, Bolivar. Mrs. Schiralli survives.
He was a graduate of Bolivar Central School Class of 1952. Louie was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving in the Korean War. He owned and operated Schirallis Barbershop in Bolivar for over 53 years, was a self-employed farmer in Bolivar for many years and was employed as a bus driver for Bolivar Central School for 29 years prior to his retirement. He also was the head greenkeeper at the Bolivar Country Club for two years.
Louie was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Church, a 49 year member of Kenyon Andrus Post 772 American Legion, Bolivar, a charter member of the Bolivar Lions Club, and served eight years on the Bolivar town board.
He enjoyed gardening, horseshoes, bowling, and spending time with his family.
Surviving in addition to his wife are four children, Susan (Steve) Adams, Tricia (Karl) Root, Bradley (Elizabeth) Schiralli, Gail (Brett) Lewis, all of Bolivar; nine grandchildren, Craig and Dennis Adams, Gretchen Colburn, Sydney and Andrew Root, Carmen and Maggie Schiralli, Cassidy and MacKenzie Lewis; three great-grandchildren, Paige, Mariyah, and Averi; three sisters, Angeline DePaolo of Port Charlotte, Fla., Jennie Marra of Olean, Julia Wing of Horseheads.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Lawrence, Vincent and Frank Schiralli; and two sisters, Mary Orsini and Katherine Shaner.
Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday (Aug. 6, 2017) at the Schaffner Funeral Home, 554 South Main St., Bolivar,. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday (Aug. 7, 2017) in St. Mary's Church, Bolivar. Rev. Sean DiMaria, pastor, as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bolivar.
