Allegany County Sheriff's Blotter

Allegany County Sheriff Ricky L. Whitney reports that on August 19, with the assistance of the Brighton Police Department, Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office arrested Alisha L. Williams, age 22 of Cuba on a Violation of Probation Warrant issued out of the Town of Cuba Court.Williams was processed and transported to the Town of Friendship Court where she was arraigned and then remanded to the Allegany County Jail with bail set at $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond.  Williams is to reappear in the Town of Cuba Court on August 22 at 7:00 .p.m for additional court action.

On August 16, Deputies arrested of Michael Gawlak, age 42 of Caneadea for failure to register or verify an internet based social media account as a registered sex offender.The arrest stems from an investigation by Deputies into an account on a social media app that was believed to be controlled by Mr. Gawlak.  Gawlak was processed and transported to the Town of Caneadea Court where he was arraigned and remanded to the Allegany County Jail with bail set at $1,000 cash or $2,000 bond, and is scheduled to reappear in the Town of Caneadea Court on September 13, 2017 at 6:00 p.m.

On August 15, Deputies arrested Matthew J. Ballengee, age 31 of Wellsville on an Allegany County Family Court Warrant.  Ballengee was processed, arraigned in Allegany County Family Court, and was released on his own recognizance. Ballengee was then arrested by Deputies as a Fugitive from Justice from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Ballengee was processed and arraigned in the Town of Belfast Court where he was remanded to the Allegany County Jail without bail and will reappear in Allegany County Court at a later date.
