Obituary: Barbara Claire, 88, formerly of Bolivar

 

Barbara Claire:  Loving Wife Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and Friend

Barbara Claire, 88, formerly of 69 Plum Street, Bolivar, passed away Sunday, December 15, 2024 at Wellsville Manor Care Center after a lengthy illness.

Born on March 9, 1936, at home in Allentown, she was a daughter of Ronald O. and Hilda M. Meyers Adams.  She was married to Lou Claire who predeceased her on July 22, 1997.

Barb was a proud graduate of Allentown Union School Class of 1953.  When her children were young, she worked at ACME Electric and then was the Co-owner and Office Manager of Allegany Printing Company in Bolivar with her husband until her retirement.

She raised her girls in the First United Methodist Church in Bolivar.    Later she was a member and past treasurer of the B.R.A.G. Historical Society and the Richburg First Day Baptist Church. For many years she was active with the Bolivar Senior Citizens and Red Hat Society.  At home she enjoyed sewing, crocheting and knitting, and hosting family picnics and holiday parties.  Barb was an animal lover and supported the local S.P.C.A.  She loved living in Bolivar and walking through town every day, sometimes with her “Granddog”, Mindy.

Barb is survived by 3 Daughters Karen Mausser of Rapid City, South Dakota, Patricia Cleveland of Batavia and Valerie (Kenneth McKervey) Swetland of Belmont; 8 Grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; Several Nieces and Nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a daughter Bonnie Nitsche and a brother Donald Adams.

Funeral and Burial Services will be held privately by the family.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the Spring to allow for travel of family and friends from out of state. Date and Time for this service and will be announced. 

Burial will be in Maple Lawn Cemetery, Bolivar.
