As your representative in Congress, I always believed it’s critical that we do our job to keep the government open and functioning. But that doesn’t mean signing off on a bloated spending bill that puts Washington’s reckless priorities ahead of hardworking Americans. At 1,500 pages, this bill is packed with wasteful spending and significant policy changes that fail the American people. The previous CR passed by the House was only 21 pages.
It includes billions in supplemental funding far beyond what’s needed, with no clear plan to ensure it benefits the American people. Worse, it eliminates critical safeguards meant to hold Congress and the Biden Administration accountable for new spending, allowing our federal government to bypass fiscal responsibility entirely.
Rather than tackling the issues that matter most to American families — like lowering costs and reducing our crushing debt — this bill funnels money toward special-interest projects and left-wing priorities. It was written behind closed doors and released at the last minute, leaving no time for a proper review. This kind of backroom deal-making undermines trust in government and does nothing to address the real challenges we face.
That’s why I’m voting NO on this disastrous CR. The people of Western New York and the Southern Tier deserve better than more waste, more debt, and more dysfunction. |
Sincerely, |
Rep. Nicholas A. Langworthy Member of Congress |
