Theodore Lee “Ted” Abbey – 63 – of County Road 5B, Bolivar, died unexpectedly Wednesday (December 19, 2024) at his home.
Born in North Hornell on December 25, 1960, he was the son of Leroy & Jeanette (Burdick) Abbey.
Ted grew up and attended school in Hornell. Throughout the years, he resided in many locations including Sykesville, MD and Gamber, MD. While living in Maryland, he was employed served as a dump truck driver and excavator operator for a construction company installing swimming pools. He later lived in Newport News, VA where he worked as a welder in the Shipyards for several years.
He returned to New York State about 5 years ago, settling in Honeoye and had resided in Bolivar for the past few months.
Ted was a longtime NFL football fan and enjoyed rooting for the Washington Redskins (now the Washington Commanders).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy & Jeanette Abbey; and his sister, Debbie Bennett.
Surviving are his brother, Richard “Rick” Abbey of Hornell; 2 nieces; several great-nieces & great-nephews; along with his longtime companion, Karen Robens of Newport News, VA.
At Ted’s request there will be no calling hours. A “Celebration of Life” will be held on a date and time to be announced.
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY.
Ted’s family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name be made to the Hornell Humane Society, 7649 Industrial Park Road, Hornell, NY 14843.
