Born October 6, 1931, in Orangeville, he was the son of John Roland and Marie Estep Parsell. A graduate of Bloomsburg High School, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in secondary education from Bloomsburg State Teachers College. A U.S. Army Veteran, he served honorably from 1953 – 1955. On December 27, 1958, in Orangeville, he married the former Laura Jane Unger, who survives. George was social studies teacher at Northern Potter High School in Ulysses for 38 years. He was a hunter/trapper educator for the PA Game Commission for over 60 years. His love of hunting, fishing, and trapping was equaled by his love of sports. He played college baseball and coached little league and high school baseball teams in Galeton for many years. George was a member of Gale Hose Ambulance Company, Goodyear Hose Company (life), Galeton Fire Police, Galeton Masonic Lodge #602 since 1966, and American Legion Potter Post #192. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and beloved teacher. His grandchildren meant the world to him.
George loved and served his community. He was everything that is good about small town America.
Surviving besides his wife, Jane, are: two sons, Todd M. Parsell and G. Douglas (Marlene) Parsell, both of Galeton; four grandchildren, John M. Parsell, Cortney Parsell, Laura Parsell, and Cara Parsell; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by nine siblings.
Cremation was at Olney-Foust Private Crematory. Services will be private. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Brookland, PA.
