Narrative:
On December 29th Yates County Deputies responded with Penn Yan Ambulance, Penn Yan FD and Yates County Office of Emergency Services to the report of a person that had fallen through the ice on a pond at the above address. The individual was found in the water by Penn Yan Fire personnel, who had utilized their cold-water rescue suits to enter the water. The victim was pulled from the water and CPR was started. The victim was transported to Soldiers and Sailors Hospital. NYSP and Branchport FD Dive Team also assisted at the scene. At this time the investigation is ongoing.
Despite the best efforts of Emergency Personnel and Medical Staff the victim passed away at the hospital late Sunday afternoon. The victim was an 8-year-old male whose name is not being release at this time due to the ongoing investigation into the incident.
