State Police Respond to Incident Near Canisteo Greenwood Elementary School

The New York State Police in Wayland responded to Woodlawn Cemetery in the Village of Canisteo to assist the Canisteo Police Department School Resource Officer with detaining a suspicious individual near Canisteo Greenwood Elementary School.

The male, identified as Harley A. Marble, age 30, of Canisteo, NY, was observed operating an unregistered off-road motorcycle without a helmet before attempting to hide the vehicle behind a shed on school grounds. Upon being detained, officers discovered suspected cocaine and a modified flare gun capable of firing 12-gauge shotgun shells in Marble's possession.

Marble was arrested and transported to SP North Hornell for processing. He was charged with Criminal Use of Firearm 2nd: Possess Deadly Weapon-Loaded (C Felony), Criminal Possession Of A Weapon On School Grounds (E Felony), and Criminal Possession of Controlled Substance- 7th Degree (A Misdemeanor). Marble was taken to Steuben County Jail for CAP Arraignment.

There are no threats to public safety. This appears to be an isolated incident. The investigation is ongoing.
