Allegany County: Cornelius murder investigation enters 54th day

It's been 54 days since State Police launched an investigation into the murder of Raymond Cornelius. The 82-year-old man was found dead inside his home on Wadsworth Hill Road in Ward, Allegany County. The case has frustrated State Police Investigators. However, this morning, a member assigned to the case from the Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Amity told WRN that several new leads were developed and received this week. An Investigator told us this morning that the case "won't go away until someone is in custody." He also said that Amity-based Investigators have the full resources of the New York State Police. If a motive has been identified, police aren't talking. In fact, police aren't saying much, which isn't surprising in this specific case. Most murders in Allegany County are solved rather quickly, often but not always, with a suspect at the scene.
Investigators have poured though hundreds upon hundreds of leads, interviewed neighbors, and reviewed trail cams in the area. However, police still say if you were in the area or even heard something, call State Police. One law enforcement official said "you may not think it's important or significant, but ever piece of information helps."
Friends and family members have reached out to WRN and urge people...if you know anything...call police.
