Monica A. Porter “beloved wife”
ROULETTE, Pa.---Monica A. Porter, 82, of Roulette, passed
away with her loving husband by her side, on Monday, August 21, 2017, in Cole
Memorial Hospital, Coudersport, after a long illness.
Born on March 10, 1935 in Secane, she was a daughter of John
and Anne Peacock. On October 2, 1972 in
West Chester, she married Herbert E. “Herb” Porter, who survives.
Monica graduated from high school in Morton. She was employed as a school bus driver and
also employed in a drug store, both in West Chester. After moving to Roulette, she was employed by
Buchanan Brothers Pharmacy in Coudersport for several years.
Monica was an active volunteer for the Christmas House in
Coudersport. After suffering a devastating
stroke, she for many years was the “head one-handed Christmas gift wrapper” at
the Christmas House. She enjoyed hunting
and her flower gardens.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, Gary
Leonhardt and Glen Leonhardt, both of West Chester; three granddaughters; a
brother, John Peacock of Pace, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
In keeping with Monica’s wishes, there will be no public
visitation or funeral services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Coudersport
Senior Center, Coudersport, PA 16915 or to the Christmas House, 1 Water Street,
Coudersport, PA 16915.
Monica’s family has entrusted her care to the Virgil L.
Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
