North Hornell - Ludwig Lantz “Junior”, 81, of Elderwood at
Hornell, passed away Sunday (August 20, 2017) at St James Mercy Hospital. Born
in Hornell, NY, October 12, 1935, a son of Ludwig J. and Elsie M. (Prouty)
Lantz, he had resided in the Hornell area his whole life. Junior spent most of
his life living at his parents’ home until he moved to the ICF home on East
Main Street in Hornell. He was very proud that he was able to work in the ARC
workshops and that he was able to attend night classes at BOCES. Junior loved
to ride the lawn mower, go-kart and other engine operated equipment that his
dad made for him. He was very spoiled at the ARC, they took him to Mexico, to
Buffalo Bills games and extra outings. Junior was an avid Buffalo Bills fan and
loved NASCAR; especially Dale Earnhardt Jr. Junior enjoyed going to the
Woodhull Raceway where he was able to spend time with his family. He voted in
every election. Junior always made the best of life and fought courageously
until the end. He will be remembered for his bright blue eyes and his big
smile. He was predeceased by his parents, aunts, uncles and an infant brother
and sister. He is survived by 3 brothers; Leroy (Mary) Lantz of Hornell, Jacob
(Mary) Lantz of Hornell and David (Sheryl) Lantz of Almond, 3 sisters; Elsie
(the late Earle) Houghtaling of Hornell, Mary (John) Brown of Almond and Ruth
(James) Whitmore of Hornell as well as many, many nieces and nephews including
