A Belmont man was arrested Monday afternoon after he surrendered to State Police around 2 p.m. Investigator Rod Perry said Daniel M. Butler, 28, was charged with 3rd degree robbery, a class D felony. Police said Butler allegedly entered Crosby's Mini Mart on Route 19 in Belmont at about 1:30 a.m. Monday and demanded money. Initial reports said Butler was armed with a knife, but he was unarmed when he surrendered. Investigator Perry said Butler lists addresses in both Willing and Belmont and has a "small criminal history." No one was injured during the incident. Police said the man made off with "an undisclosed amount of cash."
Arraigned in Town of Amity court, Butler was sent to the Allegany County Jail. Bail was set at $25,000 cash or $50,000 bond.
