The Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office is currently
investigating a motor vehicle collision resulting in one fatality.
On September 24, 2024 at 2:26, the Wyoming County
Sheriff’s Office 911 Center received the report of a multiple vehicle collision
at the intersection of Wethersfield Road and Hermitage Road in the Town of
Wethersfield. Upon arrival, deputies located two involved vehicles off the roadway
to the northwest of the intersection. The involved vehicles were a 2024 Subaru
and a 2022 Ram Tow Truck. The driver of the 2024 Subaru, Dr. Richard T.
Milazzo, Jr., of Silver Creek, NY, was found unresponsive at the wheel and was
pronounced deceased at the scene by a Wyoming County Coroner.
Assisting Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office Deputies at the
scene were a Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office Evidence Technician and the
Wyoming County Crash Management Team. Initial investigation has determined that
Dr. Milazzo’s vehicle was westbound on Wethersfield Road at a stop sign, when
his vehicle proceeded into the intersection and into the path of a southbound
tow truck on Hermitage Road, which had the right of way. The tow truck collided
with the driver door of Dr. Milazzo’s vehicle, and both vehicles slid off the
roadway to the northwest. No charges have been filed at this time. Other
agencies assisting at the scene were Gainesville Fire Department, Wyoming
County EMS, and Silver Springs Fire Department
