9/5/24 10:50 p.m.- After investigating a family
offense in the town of Bolivar, state police arrested Jeffrey H. Burdick, 44,
of Bolivar. He was charged with felony strangulation, third-degree assault with
intent to cause physical injury, preventing an emergency call and criminal
mischief with intent to damage property. He was initially detained for central
arraignment.
In a separate case, Burdick was charged with aggravated
harassment for allegedly communicating a threat by phone/computer/mail. He was
detained.
9/6/24 4 a.m.: On September 6, 2024, at approximately
4:00 A.M., Troopers out of SP Machias responded to 3825 Creek Road in the town
of Yorkshire for a single-family residential fire. Troopers and the Bureau of
Criminal Investigation are assisting multiple fire departments. It is confirmed
to have multiple fatalities at this time. More information will be provided as
the investigation continues. This is still an active investigation.
UPDATE: THREE CONFIRMED DEAD, COULD BE MORE INSIDE. IT APPEARS SOME WERE STUDENTS AT PIONEER CENTRAL.
