In a special
and historic meeting of the Wyoming County Board of Supervisors Thursday,
Supervisor Rebecca Ryan of the Town of Warsaw was voted in as Chairman of the
Board of Supervisors to fill the vacant unexpired term created when the
Supervisor from the Town of Covington stepped down as Chairman earlier this
month for personal reasons. Chairwoman Ryan is only the second woman in history
to hold this post. Anne Humphrey, Town
of Perry, was the first in the late 1990’s.
She served for one year before Doug Berwanger was elected. Supervisor
Brick of Perry was also nominated. The
vote was close, 9 to 7. Due to weighted
voting Ryan won 896 to 703.
