Obituary: Dale H. Clark, 67, Andover

ANDOVER – Dale H. Clark, 67, passed away Saturday (Sept. 19, 2020) at Jones Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.

Mr. Clark was born on March 27, 1953 in Wellsville to Cecil F. and Frances (Johnson) Clark. He was a 1971 graduate of Andover Central School. On May 14, 1977, in Alfred, he married Marsha L. Baker, who survives.

In 1971, Dale began his 35-year career with NYS Department of Transportation. He worked as a laborer and a driver at the Andover facility and later became head of maintenance in the Friendship location, retiring in 2006. After retirement, he worked for Lynch Paving in Wellsville as well as Denville Line Painting in Rockaway, N.J.

In addition to his wife of 43 years, Dale is survived by a son, Ryan D. (Erica) Clark of Andover; two brothers, Jack (Glenna) Clark and Larry (Wanda) Clark, both of Andover; three sisters, Joan (Charley) Wallace and Sylvia Lehman, both of Andover and Carole Julian of Cocoa, Fla.; two sister’s-in-law, Nellie Clark of Wellsville and Judie (Rich) Byndas of Waterloo; and three brother’s-in-law, Garth Hulin of Indianapolis, Ind., David Ankeny of Crofton, Md. and Michael (Ellen) Baker of Almond.

Additionally, he is survived by three grandchildren, Addyson Clark, Finn Clark and Cash Clark, all of Andover; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and his faithful dog, Cooper.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a stillborn son, Brandon Oliver Clark in 1984; two brothers, Cecil R. “Dick” Clark and Ernest Blair Clark; three sisters, Barbara (Dorr) Olds, Pauline Hulin and Beverly Ankeny; his father and mother-in-law, Richard M. and Ellen Baker; and two brothers-in-law, Richard (Brenda) Baker and Stephen Baker.

Dale loved hunting and fishing, especially with his son Ryan. He also liked to go moose hunting in Canada with his nephew, David. Mainly though, Dale was a family man who enjoyed spending time with his wife, son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren, and gatherings with his extended family and friends. He was a longtime member of the Andover Rod and Gun Club and the Wellsville Sons of the American Legion.

There will be a time of visitation on Saturday (Sept. 26) from 1-4 p.m. at Baker-Swan Funeral Home in Andover. Social distancing will be observed. The memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home immediately following the visitation with Rev. Christian Mattison of the Andover Presbyterian Church, officiating.
