The Wellsville Town Board Wednesday night rescinded Local Law #2 of 2015 which dealt with electrical inspections. The law required the town board to approve all electrical inspectors. Under new direction, the town has now given Code Enforcement Officer Rob Marsh the authority to select inspectors as needed.
The Board also brought back a temporary clerk position for Code Enforcement. The position was suspended last month over concerns that the council hadn't been properly briefed on the position. The board agreed to bring back Ethan Phillips as a temporary clerk to Code Enforcement. Phillips will be paid $14 per hour with a budget maximum of $1,695.
The board took no action nor was there any discussion on an idea floated in April to create a town police department and hire an officer. The proposal remains under review.
