Fred A. Peno “beloved
father, grandfather, and great-grandfather”
COUDERSPORT, Pa.- Fred A. Peno, 98, a longtime resident of
Coudersport, passed away with his loving family by his side on Saturday, May 5,
2018, in UPMC Cole, Coudersport, after a short illness.Born on June 25, 1919 in First Fork, he was a son of Tom and
Lois Snyder Peno. On December 19, 1942
in Sharon, he married Barbara A. Darlington, who passed away on May 26, 2004.
Fred attended the First Fork country school and in the
1950’s he worked hard to earn his GED.
Mr. Peno was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the states during World War
II. He was first employed by
Westinghouse in Pittsburgh and then was employed by Tri-County Electric Company
where he, along with his two brothers, was instrumental in the construction of power
lines to Sinnemahoning. He retired as district manager after many years of
service.
Fred was a member of Park United Methodist Church in
Coudersport and was a member of Eulalia Lodge No. 342 F. & A.M. in
Coudersport and was a member of the Coudersport Consistory, where for many
years he was involved in the production of the Passion Play. Fred was known by his family as “Mr. Fix-it”
and they would say “just take it to Grandpa”.
He loved to hunt and fish. His
greatest love was his family.
Surviving are a daughter, Marylee (Jim) Lux of Austin; three
grandchildren, Britta (Bob) Hooftallen, Tom (Julie) Peno, and Katy Jo (Michael)
Peno-Velickoff; three great-grandchildren, Rylee Hooftallen, Jacob Hooftallen,
and Ozzy Peno; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Fred was predeceased by
a son, Fred T. Peno; three brothers; and four sisters.
Friends may call from 11a.m. to noon on Tuesday, May 8,
2018, at Park United Methodist Church, 15 East Third Street, Coudersport, where
funeral services will follow at noon with the Rev. Scott Ogden, pastor,
officiating. Burial will be in Homer
Cemetery, Inez.
Members of Eulalia Lodge No. 342 will conduct a Masonic
service at 11:45a.m. on Tuesday at the church
Members of the Potter County Honor Guard will accord
military honors on Tuesday at the church.

Fred’s family has entrusted his care to Kevin J. Dusenbury,
