Steuben County: Shared Services draft slated for public review Aug. 28

BATH – The draft review of a four-month combined effort by Steuben County, local municipalities and school districts will be open for public comment Aug. 28 at three locations in the county. Shared services have been standard practice in Steuben County for decades, successfully combining services to benefit taxpayers. Since early May, local officials have reviewed existing shared services, considered new programs and looked for ways to make them more efficient. The joint effort was in response to state Gov. Andrew Cuomo's “Countywide Shared Services Initiative,” which calls for local governments and schools to review, consolidate and share more resources. The plan is available online at http://www.steubencony.org/Files/Documents/shared_services_plan_2017.pdf
The public hearings on the draft review are set for Aug. 28:
• 10 a.m.: Legislative Chambers, Steuben County Office Building, 3 E. Pulteney Square, Bath.
 • Noon: Community Room, Southeast Steuben County Library 300 Nasser Civic Center Plaza, Corning.
 • 3 p.m.: Council Chambers, Hornell City Hall, 82 Main St., Hornell.
