BATH – The draft review of a four-month combined effort by
Steuben County, local municipalities and school districts will be open for
public comment Aug. 28 at three locations in the county. Shared services have
been standard practice in Steuben County for decades, successfully combining
services to benefit taxpayers. Since early May, local officials have reviewed
existing shared services, considered new programs and looked for ways to make
them more efficient. The joint effort was in response to state Gov. Andrew
Cuomo's “Countywide Shared Services Initiative,” which calls for local
governments and schools to review, consolidate and share more resources. The

The public hearings on the draft review are set for Aug. 28:
