Obituary: William D. Cottone, 70, Bolivar

BOLIVAR — William D. Cottone, of 155 Olive St., Bolivar, passed away Friday (August 11, 2017) at Mercy Hospital, Buffalo after a long illness. Born Dec. 19, 1946, in Olean, son of the late Samuel J. and Helen E. Daniels Cottone. On Sept. 9, 1966, he married Mary L. Mascho, who survives. They were married by the New York State Supreme Court Judge Joseph Catalano in Olean. William attended Olean High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force for a short time. He retired from Dresser Rand where he worked for over 40 years as a welder. He resided in Bolivar for over 50 years and enjoyed playing in local softball leagues in his younger years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a stepdaughter, Debbie Harmon of Port Allegany, Pa., three step grandchildren and 13 step great-grandchildren, a brother, George W. (Virginia) Cottone of, San Bernardino, Calif., two nieces, a brotherin-law, Jack Kincaid, special friends; Darwin Mascho and family; and Shannon Steiner, visiting nurse of Allegany County. He was predeceased by a brother, Samuel G. Cottone, two sisters; Marlene Cottone and Mary Ann Padden and three brothers-in-law. The family would like to thank Dr. Elizabeth Osborne for her wonderful care. Friends may call Monday (Aug. 14, 2017) from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Guenther Funeral Home, Inc., 1303 E. State St., Olean, at which time funeral and committal services will be held. Burial will be in Maple Lawn Cemetery, Bolivar.
