Olean, NY - Phyllis J. Neal, 72, of 1841 Haskell Road passed away on Friday, August 4, 2017 at Mercy Hospital in Buffalo with her family at her side. She was born on June 16, 1945 in Coudersport, Pennsylvania, the adopted daughter of the late Leon and Marjorie (Jackson) Brownell. On May 7, 1977 in Buffalo she married to Anthony Vitaro who predeceased her in 1980. In 1986 she married James Neal who predeceased her on May 1, 2017.
She was raised in the Town of Alma and was a 1965 graduate of Wellsville High School. She formerly cleaned for Portville Central School, Key Bank, and 5 Star Bank in Olean. Phyllis enjoyed Bowling, horse shoes and bingo.
She is survived by two daughters, Michelle (Anthony) Capak of Towson, MD, and Angela Vitaro of Olean, a grandson, Austin Vitaro, a sister, Laurel Roberts, two brothers, Lewis Sinsabaugh and Carl Whitesell, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased in addition to her parents by eight siblings, Betty and Samuel Ferguson, Donny, Dorita, Edward and Evelyn Shelley, Leroy Whitesell, and Donna Yeager, and her biological parents, Samuel and Florence (Jackson) Ferguson.
Friends are invited to call on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm and on Wednesday, August 9th from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the J. W. Embser Sons Funeral Home Inc. in Wellsville. The funeral will follow the visitation on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be in Yorks Corners Cemetery.
