Garry W. Hemphill “beloved husband, father, and grandfather”
COUDERSPORT, Pa.- Garry W. Hemphill, 70, a lifelong resident
of Coudersport, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 8, 2017, in Cole
Memorial Hospital, Coudersport.
Born April 12, 1947 in Coudersport, he was a son of William
“Bob” and Wanda I. Matzinger Hemphill.
On July 13, 1968 in Olean, NY, he married Lorraine M. Lovell, who
survives.
Garry was a graduate of Coudersport High School. He was employed as a general foreman at the
former Pittsburgh Corning Glass Corporation in Port Allegany. He was also a self-employed farmer and
carpenter.
Garry loved fishing, camping, hunting and boating. His greatest love was his family.
Surviving besides his wife are two children, Michelle M.
(Curt) Long and Dana A. (Shari) Hemphill, both of Coudersport; five
grandchildren, Levi, Ciarra, Christopher, Kaden, and Colton; a
great-granddaughter, Kinslee; a brother, Richard “Dick” (Judy) Hemphill of
Coudersport; three sisters, Karen Robinson, Mary (Jeff) Freeman, and Lori
(Steve) Watson, all of Coudersport; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Garry was predeceased by a
brother, Michael Hemphill.
Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of
Garry’s life at 1pm on Saturday, August 26, 2017, at Garry and Lorraine’s home,
41 Old Route 49, Coudersport.
