Pauline B. Wende, 95, of 29 Champlain Ave., Cuba passed away
Tuesday, March 21, 2011 at Olean General Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Born on March 24, 1921, in Bradford, PA she was a daughter
of Lester E. and Mary O. Hartshorn Baxter.
On October 8, 1938 in Obi, she married Rudy M. Wende who predeceased her
in January of 1996.
Pauline was a graduate of the former Cuba Central
School. She had worked for Acme Electric
of Cuba, Phelps and Sibley Mill, and later as a preparation cook at Rushford
Central School prior to her retirement.
She was the secretary/treasurer of Rawson Cemetery for many
years. She loved to read and enjoyed
sewing. She is survived by a son, Ronald M. (Elizabeth) Wende of Delevan; a daughter,
Sandra M. (David) Crowley of Cuba; 9 Grandchildren, 26 Great Grandchildren, 11
great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her
parents and husband she was predeceased by a son Terry R. Wende on August 23,
2012, a daughter in law Jean Wende on March 28, 2008, two brothers Elba and
Edward Baxter, 4 Sisters Mable Rumsey, Myrtle Turner, Hazel Peterson, and
Josephine Warner, and a special friend Richard W. “Dick” Wilkinson on May 31,
2010. The family will receive friends at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home &
Memorial Service, Inc., 9 Bull Street Cuba, on Saturday, March 25, 2017 from
11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at which time funeral services will be held. The Rev. Daryl Butler, pastor of Elton
Baptist Church, will officiate. Memorials in Pauline’s name may be made to the
