Steuben: Investigators say sexual abuse claim was false

Press Release:
New York State Troopers from the Bath barracks announce the arrest of a 14-year-old female juvenile stemming from a joint investigation conducted with Steuben County Child Protective Services.  The 14-year-old alleged she was sexually abused in the Village of Bath and later allegedly signed a supporting deposition attesting to the abuse.  The 14-year-old later admitted to fabricating the story and was arrested for Falsely Reporting an Incident 3rd Degree (a class “A” misdemeanor) and Making a False Written Statement (a class “A” misdemeanor).  An appearance ticket was issued and made returnable to the Steuben County Family Court at a later date, with the juvenile being released to the custody of family members after it was determined that no abuse had, in fact, occurred.
