GIGLIO ANNOUNCES ITALIAN-AMERICAN LEGISLATORS’ SCHOLARSHIP

Press Release:
Assemblyman Joseph M. Giglio (R,C,I- Gowanda) announced today that his district office is now accepting applications from students applying for the New York Conference of Italian-American State Legislators’ Academic and Athletic Scholarship program. Each year, the conference selects four students to receive $3,000 scholarships, two based on academic achievement and two for athletic talent. Winners are invited to an award ceremony held in Albany as part of the conference’s annual meeting in June.
“We all know the cost of college is skyrocketing. This is a great opportunity for students who are looking to offset the massive costs of higher education,” said Giglio. “I encourage all students who have demonstrated their academic skills and their involvement in athletic activities to apply for these scholarships.”
One applicant from each category, academic and athletic, will be chosen by Assemblyman Giglio to be included in the final statewide selection process. Applicants may be current college students, graduate students or high school students planning to attend college in the fall. Eligibility is based on the student’s grade point average, interest in pursuing higher education, involvement in the local community, as well as individual financial need.
Interested students can request an application by contacting Assemblyman Giglio’s office at (716) 373-7103 or by e-mail at giglioj@nyassembly.gov.  All applications must be received by Giglio’s office, located at 700 West State Street, Westgate Plaza, Olean by 5 p.m. on April 13, 2017.

Assemblyman Joseph Giglio represents the 148th District, which consists of all of Cattaraugus and Allegany counties, and portions of Steuben County. For more information, visit Assemblyman Giglio’s Official Website.
