Troupsburg - Edward J. “Baca” Pierson, 76, of Gunn Road, passed away at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester on Wednesday March 22, 2017 as a result of injuries sustained in an auto accident on March 16, 2017.
Born in Greenhaven, NY, December 13, 1940, the son of Harry and Anna Pierson he had resided in Florida for 20 years before becoming a resident of Troupsburg in 1990. Baca was a graduate of Greenhaven High School and while in Florida, owned the “Pets Are Special” Pet Store. He was currently employed as an engineer/ carpenter at St. James Mercy Hospital in Hornell. He also operated a small farm in Troupsburg and in his earlier years, enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Baca was a member of the Hornell Moose Lodge, The Hornell Association, the Wild Turkey Federation, The NRA and was a great supporter of the Disabled American Veterans and the POW/MIA. He had served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corp from 1957-1961.
He was predeceased by his parents, his brother-in-law Richard (Dick) Norton, his grandson David Stoddard, and his daughter, Tracy Tartaranowicz.
He is survived by his former wife and close friend; Shari Pierson of Hornell, his step-children; Lisa (Matt Stoddard) Mahdy of Hornell and Roger (Kelly) Hall Jr. of Hornell; his sister-in-law; Dawn (Neil Stoddard) Patton of Arkport, six grandchildren; Kristen (Emilio) Mota of Belmont, Ryan Mahdy of Hornell, Brittany Stoddard, stationed with the United States Navy in Norfolk, Virginia, Brooke Stoddard of Hornell, Ethan Hall of Hornell and Shelby Hall of Hornell, Four great grandchildren; Mia Mota, Angel Mota, Teegan Eveland and Sebastian Mota, his nieces; Nicole (Roman) Minturn of Missouri and Jessica Patton of North Hornell.

The family will be present to receive friends at the Bender - Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St, Hornell on Sunday (March 26, 2017) from 1 until 3PM and 6 until 8 PM where Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 AM, Deacon Robert McCormick will officiate. Burial will be in Heritage Hill Cemetery, Arkport.
